CCPD Academy

Our Academy prepares you to become the officer our community expects and deserves. It consists of 34 weeks of classroom instruction combined with hands on practical skills training and physical fitness training. Classroom instruction includes important subjects such as Constitutional Law, the Texas penal code, professionalism and ethics, cultural diversity, and de-escalation. Cadets experience hands on practical instruction covering critical topics like defensive tactics, rescue swimming, emergency driving, firearms training and DWI enforcement. Our physical fitness trainers will push you to your limits during weekly physical fitness training and upon graduation you will likely find yourself in the best shape of your life. Our cadets consistently score among the highest in the state on the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Peace Officer certification exam, a testament to the quality of instruction provided by our talented, experienced and dedicated training staff.

Cadets live off-campus during the Academy and there are several convenient nearby apartment complexes for those coming from outside of Corpus Christi. Uniforms and workout tops, excluding footwear, are provided by the Department.

Our training is rigorous and only the best make it to graduation. But if you have the motivation to give your best effort both physically and mentally, that could be you. Listen to what our current and past cadets have to say about the Academy Experience.
